Biography

Matthew H. Werthman is a homegrown Klehr attorney. He started as a summer associate and is now a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Department. His practice covers a broad range of commercial real estate related practice areas including portfolio acquisitions and sales, retail, commercial and office leasing as well as various finance matters, including loan purchase transactions.

Mr. Werthman has led notable real estate transactions for Klehr over the past decade. Matthew’s leading role in a deal was recently recognized in Law360 for the successful sale of an approximately 300,000 square foot Class A office building in West Conshohocken, PA for nearly $100 million. He was part of the acquisition team, through a merger, of an international parking corporation and led the subsequent disposition of a 130+ portfolio of fee and ground-leased assets in one-off and multi-state portfolio out sales. Matthew continues to provide representation on behalf of clients on significant deals for high-rise office buildings, retail shopping centers, restaurants, and U.S. corporate headquarters, as well as smaller, complex transactions.

He enjoys his work and exhibits a keen sense cutting through the clutter and getting to the heart of the matter. Matthew is active in the community and his neighborhood. He also serves as President of his condominium board, where he is able to rely on his legal background to handle a variety of issues including property management, maintenance issues, amendments and budgeting.

Matthew attended Villanova University undergrad and was recognized by Alpha Epsilon Delta’s Premedical Honor Society. He went on to study law at the University of Pittsburgh where he also received his M.B.A. As a law student, he was named among the Who’s Who of American Law Students and received the Cali Excellence for the Future Award for Commercial Transactions.
